Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, étalée, à tiges grêles, de moins de 1 mm de diamètre, ramifiées, cylindriques, couvertes de poils courts dirigés vers la base. Poils du sommet de la tige glanduleux.

Feuilles opposées, simples, lancéolées à ovales, de 5 à 6 mm de long, de 3 à 4 mm de large, poilues, entières, mucronées.

Fleurs à symétrie radiaire, blanches, de 1,5 à 2 mm de diamètre, sur des pédicelles de 3 à 4 mm de long, réunies en cymes irrégulières de 5 à 10 cm de long. Corolle à 5 pétales libres, unis. Calice à 5 sépales libres, avec une marge translucide, poilus, glanduleux, de 2 à 3,3 mm de long, environ 2 fois plus longs que les pétales. 10 étamines inégales (5 grandes et 5 petites), à filet blanc et anthère rose. 3 styles blancs. Ovaire supère.

Fruits, capsules pyriformes, glabres, de 2 à 3 mm de long, de 1 à 2 mm de diamètre, vertes puis brunes. Graines brunes, de ± 0,4 mm.

Plant herbaceous, hermaphrodite, spread out. Stems slender, less than 1 mm in diameter, branched, cylindrical, covered in short hairs directed towards the base. Hairs of the top of the stem glandulous.

Leaves opposite, simple, lanceolate to oval, from 5 to 6 mm long, from 3 to 4 mm across, hairy, entire, mucronate.

Flowers radially symmetrical, white, from 1.5 to 2 mm in diameter, on pedicels from 3 to 4 mm long, joined together in irregular cymes from 5 to 10 cm long. Corolla with 5 free, self-coloured petals. Calyx with 5 free sepals, with a translucent edge, hairy, glandulous, from 2 to 3.3 mm long, approximately twice longer than the petals. 10 unequal stamens (5 large and 5 small), with white filament and pink anther. 3 white styles. Ovary superior.

Fruits, capsules pyriform, glabrous, from 2 to 3 mm long, from 1 to 2 mm in diameter, green then brown. Seeds brown, of ± 0.4 mm.

la fragilité de la plante.

[ < arena, -ae (noun) = sand ] = sandy, referring to the places where

the plant grows.

Leptoclados : adjective created by botanists [ < λεπτός, -ή, -ό (adj)

= slender, tenuous, scarcely conspicuous + κλάδος, -ου (noun) = twig ]

= with scarcely conspicuous twig, referring to the size and fragility of

the plant.
