Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, étalée ou grimpante, à tiges anguleuses, ramifiées, presque glabres.

Feuilles alternes, composées paripennées, à 2 à 8 folioles, à vrille simple. Folioles oblongues, poilues, terminées par 1 courte pointe. Stipules entières, petites, larges, non tachées.

Fleurs à symétrie bilatérale, lilas pâle à pourpres, de 5 à 9 mm de long, solitaires à l’aisselle des feuilles, portées par un pédoncule plus court que la feuille sous-jacente. Corolle papilionacée, à étendard glabre, lilas veiné de mauve foncé, à ailes et à carène blanches et lilas. Calice poilu, à 5 dents égales, soudées, vert pâle, un peu plus courtes que le tube du calice. Ovaire supère.

Fruits, gousses droites, glabres, de 15 à 30 mm de long, à bec court et courbé, noires à maturité.

Corolla papilionaceous, with a glabrous, lilac standard with dark mauve veins, with white and lilac wings and keel. Calyx hairy, with 5 equal, fused, pale green teeth, a little shorter than the tube of the calyx. Ovary superior.

Fruits, straight, glabrous pods, from 15 to 30 mm long, with a short and curved beak, black at maturity.
