Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, bulbeuse.
Feuilles en rosette à la base, au nombre de 4 à 6, simples, linéaires, entières, d’un vert pâle à assez vif, de 16 mm de large au plus, glabres, rubanées, en gouttière, engainantes, présentes à la floraison. Bractées aussi longues que les pédicelles.
Fleurs à symétrie radiaire, blanc laiteux, de 16 à 26 mm de diamètre, réunies par 20 à 50 en grappes fournies. Périanthe à 6 tépales pétaloïdes, libres, étalés, de 12 à 15 mm de long et de 3 à 4 mm de large, à nervure externe verte, à pédicelle aussi long ou plus long que la fleur, étalé pendant la floraison. 6 étamines à anthère jaune. 1 style et 1 stigmate. Ovaire supère.
Fruits, capsules à 3 valves.

Leaves in a rosette at the base, amounting to 4 to 6, simple, linear, entire, pale to rather bright green, 16 mm across at most, glabrous, ribboned, in gutter, sheathing, present at flowering. Bracts as long as the pedicels.
Flowers radially symmetrical, milky-white, from 16 to 26 mm in diameter, joined together by 20 to 50 in dense racemes. Perianth with 6 petaloid tepals free, spread out, from 12 to 15 mm long and from 3 to 4 mm across, with an external rib green, with a pedicel as long as or longer than the flower, spread out at flowering. 6 stamens with a yellow anther. 1 style and 1 stigma. Ovary superior.

Étymologie / Etymology :
Ornithogalum : emprunt du grec ancien ὀρνιθόγαλον, -ου (nom)
[ < ὄρνις, -ιθος (nom) = l’oiseau, la poule + γάλα, -ακτος (nom)
= le lait ] = le lait de poule, nom donné à la plante par Dioscoride,
médecin et botaniste grec mort en 90 apr. J.-C., en référence au
blanc pur de ses fleurs.
Narbonense : emprunt du latin narbonensis, -is, -e (adj.) =
de Narbonne, ville française proche de la côte méditerranéenne.
Ornithogalum : borrowed from Classical Greek ὀρνιθόγαλον, -ου
(noun) [ < ὄρνις, -ιθος (noun) = bird, hen + γάλα, -ακτος (noun) =
milk ] = hen milk, name given to the plant by Dioscorides, Greek
doctor and botanist died in 90 AD, referring to the pure white flowers.
Narbonense : borrowed from Latin narbonensis, -is, -e (adj) = of or
from Narbonne, a French city near the Mediterranean coast.
