Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, à tiges dressées à ascendantes, glabres ou velues.
Feuilles alternes, simples, réniformes à cordiformes, longuement pétiolées, poilues, à 3 à 7 lobes peu profonds, arrondis et dentés.
Fleurs à symétrie radiaire, lilas bleuté, rosées ou blanches, de 5 à 10 mm de diamètre, à pédoncule court, réunies par 2 ou 3 à l’aisselle des feuilles. Corolle à 5 pétales à sommet lilas, à peine soudés à la base et un peu plus longs que les sépales. Calice à 5 sépales soudés entre eux, doublé d’un calicule de 3 bractées linéaires à lancéolées. Nombreuses étamines soudées en tube dont la surface est sans poils ou presque sans poils. Ovaire supère.
Fruits, akènes velus ou non, entourés par les sépales étalés qui finissent par former une sorte de disque membraneux et rougeâtre.

Plant herbaceous, hermaphrodite. Stems erect to ascending, glabrous or very hairy.
Leaves alternate, simple, kidney-shaped to heart-shaped, lengthily petiolate, hairy, with 3 to 7 not very deep, rounded and toothed lobes.
Flowers radially symmetrical, bluish lilac, pink or white, from 5 to 10 mm in diameter, with a short peduncle, joined together by 2 or 3 at the axil of the leaves. Corolla with 5 petals with a lilac top, scarcely partly fused and a little longer than the sepals. Calyx with 5 sepals fused with each other, doubled by an epicalyx of 3 linear to lanceolate bracts. Stamens numerous, fused in tube whose surface is without hairs or almost without hairs. Ovary superior.
Fruits, achenes very hairy or not, surrounded by the spread out sepals which end up forming a sort of a membranous and reddish disc.

Malva : borrowed from Latin malva, -ae (noun) = mallow, name given
to the plant by Plinius, Latin naturalist died in 79 AD.
Parviflora : adjective created by botanists [ < parvus, -a, -um (adj)
= small + flos, floris (noun) = flower ] = with small flowers.
