Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, étalée, à longues tiges minces, poilues ou non.
Feuilles alternes, composées imparipennées, à 5 à 11 folioles obovales, dentées, très légèrement bilobées au sommet.
Fleurs à symétrie bilatérale, blanches, roses ou jaune pâle, de 7 à 11 mm de long, réunies par 3 à 9 en bouquets axillaires. Corolle papilionacée. Calice campanulé. Ovaire supère.
Fruits, gousses de 3 à 8 cm de long, fortement courbées avec un bec étroit, articulées mais pas resserrées entre les graines.

Plant herbaceous, hermaphrodite, spread out. Stems long, thin, hairy or not.
Leaves alternate, compound imparipinnate, with 5 to 11 obovate, toothed leaflets, very slightly two-lobed at the top.
Flowers bilaterally symmetrical, white, pink or pale yellow, from 7 to 11 mm long, joined together by 3 to 9 in axillary clusters. Corolla papilionaceous. Calyx bell-shaped. Ovary superior.
Fruits, pods from 3 to 8 cm long, strongly curved with a narrow beak, divided in articles but not tightened between seeds.

Étymologie / Etymology :
Coronilla : nom créé par le botaniste Mathias De l'Obel (1538-1616)
[ < corona, -ae (nom) = la couronne + -illus (diminutif) = petit) ]
= la petite couronne, en référence à la disposition des fleurs dans
l’inflorescence.
Rostrata : emprunt du latin rostratus, -a, -um (adj.) [ < rostrum, -i (nom)
= le bec d’un oiseau, l’éperon ] = qui a l’apparence d’un bec, allongé
ou courbé comme un bec.
Coronilla : name created by the botanist Mathias De l'Obel
(1538-1616) [ < corona, -ae (noun) = crown + -illus (diminutive)
= small) ] = little crown, referring to the arrangement of the flowers
in the inflorescence.
Rostrata : borrowed from Latin rostratus, -a, -um (adj)
[ < rostrum, -i (noun) = beak of a bird, spur ] = which has the
appearance of a beak of a bird, lengthened or curved like a beak.
