Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, en touffe érigée, à nombreuses tiges grêles, cylindriques, non feuillées, glabres, ramifiées, à nombreuses racines fibreuses.

Feuilles toutes à la base, simples, linéaires, creuses, entières, glabres, longues de 5 à 35 cm et larges de 4 mm, carénées en dessous.

Fleurs à symétrie radiaire, blanches à nervures médianes brunes, de 20 à 25 mm de diamètre, portées par un pédicelle égalant les bractées membraneuses blanchâtres, réunies en lâches grappes cylindriques, allongées, de 8 à 15 cm de long. 6 tépales libres, de 12 à 14 mm de long. Pédicelles divisés vers le milieu. Ovaire supère.

Fruits, capsules sphériques à 3 parties, de 4 à 5 mm de diamètre, brunâtres, glabres, plus courtes que le pédicelle.

Leaves all at the base, simple, linear, hollow, entire, glabrous, from 5 to 35 cm long and 4 mm across, carinate on the lower part.

Flowers radially symmetrical, white with median veins brown, from 20 to 25 mm in diameter, carried by a pedicel equalling the whitish membranous bracts, joined together in loose, cylindrical, lengthened racemes, from 8 to 15 cm long. 6 free tepals from 12 to 14 mm long. Pedicels divided about the middle. Ovary superior.

Fruits, spherical capsules with 3 parts, from 4 to 5 mm in diameter, brownish, glabrous, shorter than the pedicel.
