Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, à tiges très délicates, dressées, un peu glauques, glabres, ramifiées, cylindriques, feuillées sur toute la longueur.

Feuilles de la base verticillées, les supérieures alternes, simples, linéaires à lancéolées, obtuses, un peu glauques, de 7 à 17 mm de long, de 1 à 2 mm de large, entières, glabres.

Fleurs à symétrie bilatérale, jaune pâle, parfois veinées de mauve, de 5 à 9 mm de long, à 2 lèvres, réunies en grappes de 7 à 22 mm de long. Chaque fleur portée par un pédicelle à poils glanduleux, beaucoup plus court que le calice. Éperon droit, de 2 à 4 mm de long, dirigé vers le bas, plus long que l’ovaire. Corolle poilue dans la gorge. Gorge orange ou jaune plus vif. Calice à 5 sépales linéaires à lancéolés, terminés en pointe, à poils glanduleux. Ovaire supère.

Fruits, petites capsules vertes, glabres ou presque glabres, de 2 à 4 mm de diamètre, un peu piriformes, égales ou plus longues que les calices persistants qui les entourent. Graines grises, à disque lisse ou à peine verruqueux, de 1,5 à 2 mm de diamètre, bordé tout autour d’une aile large.

Throat orange or brighter yellow. Calyx with 5 linear to lanceolate sepals, finished in a point, with glandulous hairs. Ovary superior.

Fruits, small, green, glabrous or almost glabrous capsules, from 2 to 4 mm in diameter, a little pear-shaped, equal to or longer than the persistent calyxes which surround them. Seeds grey, with a smooth or scarcely verrucose disc, from 1.5 to 2 mm in diameter, bordered all around by a wide wing.
