Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, à racine pivotante, à tiges érigées à étalées, pubescentes, souvent glanduleuses.

Feuilles opposées, simples, ovales à oblongues, à base cordiforme, plus ou moins lobées, dentées, longuement pétiolées, poilues et couvertes de petites glandes brillantes. Stipules membraneuses à la base des feuilles.

Fleurs à symétrie radiaire, pourpres, lilas ou blanches, de 10 à 18 mm de diamètre, réunies par 3 à 7 en ombelles lâches d’environ 3 à 4 cm de diamètre. Pédoncule à poils glanduleux, plus long que la feuille sous-jacente. Au moins 3 bractées lanceolées sous chaque ombelle. 5 pétales libres, de 5 à 9 mm de long, se recouvrant, à peine plus longs que les sépales. Ovaire supère.

Fruits, capsules velues, à 5 parties. Sommet des méricarpes à 2 alvéoles glanduleuses et avec 1 sillon large et profond. Bec de 18 à 35 mm de long.

Leaves opposite, simple, ovate to oblong, with a heart-shaped base, more or less lobed, toothed, lengthily petiolate, hairy and covered in small, bright glands. Stipules membranous at the base of the leaves.

Flowers radially symmetrical, purple, lilac or white, from 10 to 18 mm in diameter, joined together by 3 to 7 in lax umbels from approximately 3 to 4 cm in diameter. Peduncle with glandulous hairs, longer than the underlying leaf. At least 3 lanceolate bracts under each umbel. 5 free petals, from 5 to 9 mm long, overlapping, scarcely longer than the sepals. Ovary superior.

Fruits, very hairy capsules, with 5 parts. Top of the mericarps with 2 glandular hollows and with 1 wide, deep furrow. Beak from 18 to 35 mm long.
