Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, petite, tapissante, un peu poilue, à tiges vigoureuses, étalées, devenant épaisses. Nombreuses tiges non ramifiées.
Feuilles alternes, divisées pennatifides, à lobes lancéolés à linéaires, de moins de 2 cm de long, coriaces, un peu charnues.
Fleurs jaunes parfois teintées de rose, toutes tubulées, réunies en capitules de 3 à 9 mm de diamètre, portés par un court pédoncule épais, souvent arqué. Ovaire infère.
Fruits, akènes sans côtes apparentes.

Plant herbaceous, hermaphrodite, small, covering, a little hairy. Stems vigorous, spread out, becoming thick. Many stems not branched.
Leaves alternate, dissected pinnatifid, with lanceolate to linear lobes, of less than 2 cm long, tough, a little fleshy.
Flowers yellow, sometimes tinted of pink, with only disk-florets, grouped in capitula from 3 to 9 mm in diameter, carried by a short, thick, often arched stalk. Ovary inferior.
Fruits, achenes without apparent ribs.

Anthemis : emprunt du latin anthemis, -idis (nom), nom donné à la
camomille par Pline, naturaliste latin mort en 79 apr. J.-C., forme
latinisée du grec ancien ἀνθεμίς, -ίδος (nom) = la fleur,
particulièrement la camomille [ < ἄνθεμον, -ου (nom) = la fleur ], nom
donné à la plante par Dioscoride, médecin et botaniste grec mort
en 90 apr. J.-C., en référence à sa floraison abondante.
Rigida : emprunt du latin rigidus, -a, -um (adj.)
[ < rigeo, -es, -ere (verbe) = être raide, être durci ] = raide, dur,
rigide.
Anthemis : borrowed from Latin anthemis, -idis (noun), name given to
the camomile by Plinius, Latin naturalist died in 79 AD, Latinized form
of the Classical Greek ἀνθεμίς, -ίδος (noun) = flower,
particularly the camomile [ < ἄνθεμον, -ου (noun) = flower ] name
given to the plant by Dioscorides, Greek doctor and botanist died
in 90 AD, referring to its profuse blooming.
Rigida : borrowed from Latin rigidus, -a, -um (adj)
[ < rigeo, -es, -ere (verb) = to be stiff, to be hardened ] = stiff, hard,
rigid.
