Arbuste hermaphrodite, à rameaux pendants, gris ou brun grisâtre, lisses, sans épines.

Feuilles alternes, persistantes, simples, linéaires à lancéolées, vert bleuté, de 8 à 20 cm de long et de 4 à 30 mm de large, droites, à 1 nervure.

Fleurs à symétrie bilatérale, jaune vif, réunies en glomérules de 10 à 15 mm de diamètre. Glomérules réunis par 5 à 10 en courtes grappes axillaires. Ovaire supère.

Fruits, gousses pendantes, droites, aplaties, de 6 à 12 cm de long, resserrées entre les graines. Graines à funicules blancs.

Treelet hermaphrodite. Branches hanging, grey or greyish brown, smooth, without thorns.

Leaves alternate, persistent, simple, linear to lanceolate, bluish green, from 8 to 20 cm long and from 4 to 30 mm across, straight, with 1 vein.

Flowers bilaterally symmetrical, bright yellow, joined together in glomeruli from 10 to 15 mm in diameter. Glomeruli joined together by 5 to 10 in short axillary racemes. Ovary superior.

Fruits, hanging, straight, flattened pods, from 6 to 12 cm long, tightened between seeds. Seeds with white funicules.

en 79 apr. J.-C.

Saligna : emprunt du latin salignus, -a, -um (adj.) [ < salix, -icis (nom)

= le saule ] = qui a l’apparence d’un saule, en référence aux feuilles

semblables à celles du saule.

Acacia : name given to the tree by Plinius, Latin naturalist died in 79 AD.

Saligna : borrowed from Latin salignus, -a, -um (adj)

[ < salix, -icis (noun) = willow ] = which has the appearance of

a willow, referring to the willow-like leaves.
