Plante herbacée, monoïque, ramifiée depuis la base, à rameaux nombreux, rouges et poilus dessus, verts et glabres dessous, étalés à prostrés, de 20 à 35 cm long, libérant un suc laiteux quand on les coupe.

Feuilles opposées, simples, elliptiques à oblongues, dentées sur les 2 tiers supérieurs, à pétiole court, glabres dessus, poilues dessous, de 6 à 9 mm de long, de 4 à 6 mm de large.

Fleurs à symétrie radiaire, verdâtres, réunies en bouquets, jamais en ombelles, de 3 à 4 mm de diamètre. Cyathe à 4 glandes nectarifères semi-circulaires, roses, sans cornes. Ovaire supère.

Fruits, capsules trilobées, ovoïdes, sillonnées, d’abord vertes puis jaune brunâtre à maturité, de 1 à 1,5 mm de diamètre, à poils étalés blancs sur les carènes. Graines minuscules, rugueuses.

Plant herbaceous, monoecious, branched from the base, with branches numerous, red and hairy above, green and glabrous beneath, spread out to prostrate, from 20 to 35 cm long, releasing a milky juice when cut.

Leaves opposite, simple, elliptic to oblong, toothed on the upper two thirds, with short petiole, glabrous above, hairy below, from 6 to 9 mm long, from 4 to 6 mm across.

Flowers radially symmetrical, greenish, joined together in clusters, never in umbels, from 3 to 4 mm in diameter. Cyathium with 4 glands semicircular, nectariferous, pink, without horns. Ovary superior.

Fruits, capsules trilobate, ovoid, furrowed, initially green then brownish yellow at maturity, from 1 to 1.5 mm in diameter, with white hairs spread out on the keels. Seeds tiny, rough.
