Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, glabre, un peu charnue, à tiges dressées à ascendantes.

Feuilles alternes, divisées pennatifides, oblongues, à dents profondes et aiguës. Feuilles inférieures divisées et rétrécies en pétiole à leur base; feuilles caulinaires sessiles, dentées ou entières et embrassantes.

Fleurs à fleurons tubulés et ligulés jaunes, à fleurons ligulés rubanés, réunies en capitules de 35 à 55 mm de diamètre, portés par un pédoncule épaissi sous le réceptacle. Involucre à bractées inégales, vert jaunâtre, membraneuses au sommet. Ovaire infère.

Fruits, akènes à 10 côtes distinctes.

Plant herbaceous, hermaphrodite, glabrous, a little fleshy. Stems erect to ascending.

Leaves alternate, dissected pinnatifid, oblong, with deep and acute teeth. Lower leaves divided and narrowed into a petiole at their base; stem-leaves sessile, toothed or entire and clasping.

Flowers with yellow ray- and disk-florets, with ribboned ray-florets, joined together in capitula from 35 to 55 mm in diameter, carried by a peduncle thickened under the receptacle. Involucre with unequal, yellowish green bracts, membranous at the top. Ovary inferior.

Fruits, achenes with 10 conspicuous ribs.

Étymologie  /  Etymology :

    Glebionis : nom créé en 1826 par Alexandre Henri Gabriel de Cassini,

        emprunt du latin gleba, -ae  (nom) = la glèbe, le sol, le terrain cultivé,

        en référence à sa présence jadis abondante en bordure des champs.

    Segetum : emprunt du latin seges, -etis  (nom) = le champ ensemencé,

        la moisson.


    Glebionis : name created in 1826 by Alexandre Henri Gabriel de Cassini,

        borrowed from Latin gleba, -ae  (noun) = soil, cultivated land,

        referring to its formerly abundant presence at the edge of fields.

    Segetum : borrowed from Latin seges, -etis (noun) = seeded field,

        harvest.
