Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, à tiges étalées à prostrées, poilues. Nombreuses tiges non ramifiées.
Feuilles alternes, un peu charnues, divisées pennatisequées, à lobes ovales.
Fleurs à fleurons ligulés blancs et parfois assez courts et à fleurons tubulés jaunes, réunies en capitules de 15 à 30 mm de diamètre. Involucre cotonneux. Ovaire infère.
Fruits, akènes.

Plant herbaceous, hermaphrodite. Stems spread out to prostrate, hairy. Many stems not branched.
Leaves alternate, a little fleshy, dissected pinnatisect, with ovate lobes.
Flowers with ray-florets white and sometimes rather short and with disk-florets yellow, joined together in capitula from 15 to 30 mm in diameter. Wooly involucre. Ovary inferior.

Étymologie / Etymology :
Anthemis : emprunt du latin anthemis, -idis (nom), nom donné à la
camomille par Pline, naturaliste latin mort en 79 apr. J.-C., forme
latinisée du grec ancien ἀνθεμίς, -ίδος (nom) = la fleur,
particulièrement la camomille [ < ἄνθεμον, -ου (nom) = la fleur ], nom
donné à la plante par Dioscoride, médecin et botaniste grec mort
en 90 apr. J.-C., en référence à sa floraison abondante.
Scopulorum : emprunt du latin scopulus, -i (nom) = le rocher, la roche,
la falaise, en référence aux endroits où pousse la plante.
Anthemis : borrowed from Latin anthemis, -idis (noun), name given to
the camomile by Plinius, Latin naturalist died in 79 AD, Latinized form
of the Classical Greek ἀνθεμίς, -ίδος (noun) = flower,
particularly the camomile [ < ἄνθεμον, -ου (noun) = flower ] name
given to the plant by Dioscorides, Greek doctor and botanist died
in 90 AD, referring to its profuse blooming.
Scopulorum : borrowed from Latin scopulus, -i (noun) = cliff, crag,
referring to the places where the plant grows.
